Biomechanics and Pilates
The rider’s position in the saddle hugely affects the horse’s way of going and the freedom and quality of its paces.
Pilates improves body awareness, balance, tone, core stability and co-ordination. Correct body alignment enables the rider to absorb the movements of their horse or pony with an independent seat and light hands. Becoming more aware of your individual patterns of movement enables you to make relevant corrections to your posture resulting in a healthier body overall.
Imagine giving someone a piggy-back and how it affects your movement if they are sitting crookedly, or leaning back, and that when they are balanced you can move more easily.
As a qualified Pilates Instructor and Biomechanics Coach, I am now able to assess posture, symmetry and range of movement and give relevant exercises for improvement.
